I was going through movie archive and discovered “The Mosquito Coast”. The story of this movie is that Allie Fox (Harrison Ford) is running from USA into the jungle to build the new, perfect place as he sees society going to destruction path - inflation is rising, immigration problems and wars around.
In the jungle, he meets three soldiers, which he thinks are captured by Indians. He invites them into the city he builds and later they really come there, but they are not friendly. They are more like bandits.
He asks them to leave but they refuse. To get rid of them, he says that there are ants and due to that, they need to burn the place down, so they have to leave anyway. To prove it (even though there are no ants) he burns one house and then tries to make the life for the bandits as hard as possible in excuse of fighting against ants. The bandits don’t believe him and are getting suspicious.
He claims there is “war against the ants” but in reality, he wants them to leave and get rid of the bandits. Eventually he calm them down, act nice to them, wait till they fall as sleep and lock them in one house and burn the place with them inside.
When I see it, I am 100% sure that the “war against the virus” was exactly the same as “war against ants”. Someone wanted to get rid of an unwanted group of people who were not welcomed in his world. Which is kind of worrying, specially after last year’s experience. When I see it now, I would be really careful with anything now produced by the official system. Specially, till the censorship still blocks any rational debate.
